Alex B. McLellan
Alex McLellan has spent the majority of his adult life writing software, technical materials, or research papers.
When he retired from the daily grind, he began to travel. His travels took him back to his homeland in Australia and later to Scotland, where his family originated.
Following in his father's footsteps, McLellan continued to research his family's origins in Scotland. During his trip, he became fascinated by the history of the period leading up to and including the First Scottish War of Independence, which lasted from 1296 to 1328. His initial research sought to uncover his family's involvement, if any, in Scottish society and the battles that shaped the First Scottish War.
That research produced two possible outcomes related to his family origins. One of those outcomes became the basis for a plan to write a single book, initially titled “Son of the Servant.” After months of research, the writing process began, leading to a book idea that seemed almost endless. The final result was a plan to create a series of books based on the original concept.
McLellan holds an undergraduate degree in computer science and a master's in systems engineering, neither of which is relevant to or even remotely interesting about his first attempt at historical fiction—The “Lioness of Galloway."
